State, city and ZIP: choose the right level
Unlike the homepage preview, this page lets you narrow the source pool by state, city and ZIP. Choosing a state limits the available cities; choosing a city limits its ZIP codes. Leave a field open to vary that level when generating a new address or a batch.

Apartment and suite lines
A US address separates the delivery line from the city, two-letter state abbreviation and ZIP. A secondary unit such as APT or STE identifies a unit inside a building. Generated suite information stays attached to the street when copied or exported. ZIPs remain text, preserving leading zeroes in places such as Boston. See USPS secondary address unit guidance and the US address format examples.
City and university context
Los Angeles and San Francisco are separate California source pools. New York city examples do not represent every city in New York State. Likewise, Harvard’s contact address in Cambridge, MA 02138 is not a Boston address: Cambridge is not part of this tool’s current Boston pool. Campus names and landmarks help explain geography but are not inserted into generated residential profiles.
Repeat a filtered batch
Open Advanced settings, select 1–1,000 records and retain your seed. JSON, CSV, SQL and text exports keep each city, state and ZIP together. Change the seed for different generated names and streets, or broaden the filters to cover more locations. The source pool is a curated set of 261 tuples, not every US ZIP.
Build a useful US test address.
Each supported tuple pairs one real city, state, and ZIP from our curated GeoNames snapshot. The street and person are generated tokens, so a coherent result should never be read as an actual residence.
For a particular fixture, retain the seed from Advanced settings and the source version included in the JSON export.

United States address generator FAQs
How do I generate a random US address with a state, city and ZIP code?
Choose a supported state, then a city or ZIP code, and select Generate address. Each result keeps its city, state and ZIP together. Leave filters open to vary locations within the supported list.
Which US cities and ZIP codes are available?
The catalog contains 261 city–ZIP examples across 21 cities. Use Browse supported cities to see the current list, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. It is a selected catalog, not every US city or ZIP code.
What is the format of a US address example?
Use the street and any apartment or suite on the delivery line, followed by city, two-letter state abbreviation and ZIP code. Keep the ZIP as text so leading zeroes are preserved. Copy Address returns address fields; Copy full also includes the generated profile.
Can I generate a US address with a name and phone number?
Yes. A generated profile includes a name, street, city, state, ZIP and example phone number. Copy the full profile or use the separate field buttons when testing a form that asks for each field individually.
Can I generate California or New York addresses only?
Yes. Choose CA or NY in the state filter and narrow the available city and ZIP selections. The California and New York tools in the footer provide dedicated starting points for those supported locations.
How can I create 100 or 1,000 US addresses in CSV or JSON?
Open Advanced settings and set the number of records, up to 1,000. Generate the batch and choose JSON, CSV, SQL or plain text under Export as. The chosen state, city and ZIP filters apply to the whole batch.
Can I generate the same US address again?
Retain the seed in Advanced settings, lock it, and keep the same filters, record count and data version. The JSON export includes provenance for replay. Changing the seed changes the generated names and street fields.
Why does my ZIP code lose its leading zero in Excel?
A spreadsheet may interpret the ZIP column as a number. Import CSV with that column set to Text, or use JSON to retain its string type. This matters for supported ZIP examples in places such as Boston and Concord.
Is a generated address suitable for a real shipment?
Use these addresses for form testing, software demos and sample datasets. A matched city and ZIP does not confirm that the generated street is a delivery destination. For a shipment, use the recipient's actual address.
